Biografii Charles Bukowski

Henry Charles Bukowski (16 august 1920 - 9 martie 1994), a fost un poet, romancier germano-american.

Scrierile lui Bukowski au fost puternic influențate de atmosfera casei lui din orașul Los Angeles și sunt marcate de empatie pentru viața obișnuită a săracilor americani albi, actul scrisului, alcool, relațiile cu femei. Un autor prolific, Bukowski a scris mii de poezii, sute de nuvele și șase romane.

Descendent literar al lui Henry Miller, Charles Bukowski scrie o proza care, chiar daca socheaza adesea prin vulgaritate, este de o cruda si dezarmanta onestitate. S-a nascut in Germania, in Andernach, in 1920. Cind avea doi ani, parintii sai au emigrat in Statele Unite; a crescut si si-a petrecut mare parte din viata in Los Angeles. Impreuna cu sotia sa, Linda, a locuit apoi in San Pedro, California, unde a murit in 1994, de leucemie. Hank, asa cum ii spuneau prietenii, a fost, dupa opinia lui Genet si Sartre, „cel mai bun poet din America“. Este printre cei mai cititi scriitori americani contemporani, fiind tradus in nenumarate limbi. A scris 32 de volume de poezie, cinci volume de povestiri si patru romane. De acelasi autor: „Ham on Rye”, „Hot Water Music”, „Post Office”, „The Tales of Ordinary Madness”, „Notes of a Dirty Old Man”, „War All the Time”, „Love Is a Dog From Hell”. La Editura Polirom au aparut romanele „Femei” (2003), „De duzina” (2003), „Factotum” (2004), „Posta” (2004) si „Dragostea e un ciine venit din iad” (2007).

A murit de leucemie pe 9 martie 1994 in San Pedro, California
